SWAGG NEWS INTERVIEW WITH “CTL” CRIMINALS TURNED LEGIT. LOTTO LUCIANO & YOUNG KIDD. STRAIGHT OUTTA THE WEST COAST OF CANADA.

(SN) So Young Kidd & Lotto Your both representing Winnipeg City, can you tell our readers who you are and what its like coming out of the west coast of Canada.
Young Kidd: For those who don’t know CTL Records is a corner stone in Winnipeg hip hop. Coming from where were from the prairies of Canada we feel we bring a different sound to hip hop then what people are used to hearing from Canadian artists.
Lotto: Also coming from Winnipeg people hear the name Winnipeg and are clueless to where its at. There so used to hearing Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal and we feel we could be a real staple in Hip Hop coming outta Canada therefore it makes us work that much harder.

(SN) How long have you been in pursuit of your hip hop career. What keeps you motivated to keep in pushing.
Lotto: CTL Records was founded around 2005 after I was released from Jail, so about 6 years.
Young Kidd: I was already doing my thang around that time, recording and writing songs so we been going ever since.
Lotto: What keeps me motivated is that everyday i feel i’m getting better at this craft and i haven’t reached my full potential yet. I just started taking rap serious when i got out of jail, before then it was just freestyling at parties nothing that

would even be considered real rap. Now that i got a little buzz I’m gonna take it all the way i feel like I’m gonna be doing this for a long time.
Young Kidd: The thing that keeps me motivated and pushing is just my love for music, i love going in the studio creating what im creating. I love doing these shows i love giving people something they can relate toIf my music can take someone from having a bad day to a good day then im good u feel me, And of coarse my daughter gives me that extra push to give it 110%. I know for a fact i will be making music until its my time to go.
(SN) Explain the role you play in Peg Citys hip hop scene.
Lotto: I feel we play a big role in this scene, we more than just players we coaches. Being as we independent and own our own label.
Young Kidd: I feel i play a huge role in putting Winnipeg hip hop on the map, Check the you tube views we do numbers. We got a big following in our city who all support us and will ride for us cause when it comes down to it we do it for our city.
Lotto: No matter what you always gotta remember where you come from.
(SN) Do you get support in your own city, or are you getting more recognition else Where.
Young Kidd: I think we getting recognition from a lot of places in Canada, I mean of coarse our city supports us but we really branching out to different cities across Canada and a bit in the US.
Lotto: Its kinda hard to say if we getting recognition from different countries cause we aint never did any shows overseas but I’m positive if they did hear us they would definitely listen.

(SN) What are you bringing to the Hip Hop World.
Young Kidd: I feel we bringing good quality music period. These days there’s a whole lotta dance music coming out, people inventing they own dances and having a #1 hit we don’t do that. No disrespect to the artists who do, I mean get your money but we bringing a story a lot of people in the world can relate to. Coming from nothing and making it something.
Lotto: I think we bringing hip hop back to when it was more about being lyrical then having a flashy hook. More about talent then money and flashy cars, taking it back to its original state. That’s something we feel hip hop is missing the story telling.
(SN) Lotto are you an Independent artist or signed to a label, in your opinion what are a few differences between being an Independent artist and a signed artist.
Lotto: We 100% independent. We use all our own resources, all our own money and all our talent. The plus side to that is we get to be 100% creative with our work we don’t have anybody telling us how our music should sound. What you get as a end result is truly us its not sugar coated or watered down and we feel people will relate to that more.
Young Kidd: I feel the same way, We been Independent from the go and we gunna stay independent. I like to be flexible with my music i don’t need somebody telling me what song i should release or what to put on this record. i like to work at my own pace and sometimes when you signed to label they can stop you from doing so. If you feel you got a hit record and they don’t, They can hold that record for as long as they want and they may never even put the record out.
(SN) What are your 3 must haves while in a studio session.
Lotto: The 3 necessities that i need in the studio are 1. A good bag of weed 2. I need to have some smashing beats. 3. The atmospheres gotta be right i don’t like a packed studio when I’m working.
Young Kidd: My 3 must haves in the studio gotta be 1. A bag of that Good 2. I need my brother Boogey The Beat in there 3. I just got to be in a good, my minds got to be in the right place, i don’t really like working with to much shit on my mind.
(SN) What’s in the works for Lotto, near future plans, albums mixtapes, shows, videos.
Young Kidd: Well right now we got our Criminals Turned legit Album we just dropped July 14th. That’s with myself, Lotto and Quick Cash Produced by Boogey The Beat and LJ Montana which you can purchase on ITUNES. I also got a Mixtape i will be dropping in August called Wonderful Winnipeg hosted by DJ Dow Jones who is a Shadyville DJ. And after that ill probably drop my 3rd Solo album in 2012 just keep working and working keep doing shows and keep shooting videos the grind never stops.
Lotto: Like Kidd said, right now we just trying to push this Criminals Turned Legit album, do more shows and at the same time im always in the studio working. I can put out a Mixtape tomorrow but this CD we got right now is so hot im just trying to push it to the max. Ill probably put out a mixtape in the last quarter of the year but other than that I’m always down to do collabs with whoever but i got some artists in mind i would like to do collabs with, only time will tell.

(SN) You know that this is Swagg news so its only right that we ask the both of you to for your definition of Swagg.
