Buju Banton Seeking Reduced Prison Sentence.
Buju Banton’s legal team has filed papers seeking a reduced prison sentence after his February conviction of conspiring to set up a cocaine deal in Florida in 2009.
The Grammy winner faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison at his sentencing hearing June 23 in Tampa federal court.
In court documents filed Thursday, Banton’s attorney, David Markus, says a 15-year-sentence is “way more than necessary” in Banton’s case. He contends that Banton’s limited participation in the drug buy, his charitable work in Jamaica and his otherwise clean record entitle the singer to a reduced sentence.
The documents include letters of support for Banton from actor Danny Glover, reggae singer Stephen Marley and Atlanta Hawks basketball player Etan Thomas.
Banton also seeks an acquittal and a new trial.

18 Month Toddler Got Drowned by a 5-Year-Old. Now The 5-Year-Old Is Being Charged With Murder. What Is This World Coming To.
Jermane Johnson, Jr., an 18-month-old toddler was dragged by a 5-year-old to a bathtub and drowned to death. The 16-year-old girl who was supposed to be looking after the toodler fell asleep. When social workers asked the 5-year-old girl why she drowned the toodler, she told them that she didn’t like the toddler because he “made too much noise” and “cried too much.”

A 5-year-old girl could face murder charges in the recent drowning of a toddler in a bathtub, police said on Thursday.
Kansas City police are waiting for a medical examiner’s report on how Jermane Johnson Jr., died, but have investigated the death as a homicide, spokesman Darin Snapp said Thursday.
“I’ve been in law enforcement for 20 years and it’s the youngest suspect I can remember,” Snapp said. “It’s extremely rare.”
Johnson, 18 months old, was in a Kansas City house on June 3rd with other children, but the 16-year-old girl who was supposed to be looking after them fell asleep, Snapp said.

Rap star Flo Rida was charged with DUI early this morning (June 9th) in Miami, Florida according reports. The 31-year-old rapper was pulled over in his Bugatti, near Miami Beach. When police identified Flo Rida, born Tramar Dillard, they also found that he was driving the expensive car with a suspended license.
