Erykah Badu is set to travel to Atlanta this summer now that she’s been named as the headliner for the 40th birthday celebration of Tupac Shakur. Badu will hit the stage June 16 at the Atlanta Symphony Hall alongside Roy Ayers, Eric Roberson and Hip-Hop heavyweights Too Short, Bun B and 8 Ball & MJG.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The program areas benefitting from this event include youth leadership training & conflict resolution, the arts, reading & literacy, and environmental education. Approximately 500 youth, ages 7-18, will be impacted by this fundraiser event. The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation is the heartbeat of Tupac’s legacy. Each Birthday Concert is a celebration of Tupac, his life, and the resounding effect he’s had on hip hop, culture, fans, communities, and youth worldwide!

A convicted murderer, long suspected of involvement in the 1994 Quad Studios shooting of Tupac Shakur, has finally admitted to committing the crime, and has accused Game’s manager, Jimmy “Henchmen” Rosemond — founder of Czar Entertainment — of masterminding the botched robbery, which left the legendary rapper shot five times. “I want to apologize to his [Tupac’s] family and for the mistake I did for that sucker [Rosemond],” Dexter Isaac told AllHipHop.com today (June 15), on the eve of Tupac’s 40th birthday. Jay-Z sits at the top of many artist’s dream collaborations list, however, he no longer rides high on Justin Timberlake’s.

In an interview with Vanity Fair magazine, the 30-year-old crooner revealed that he contacted the Brooklyn rapper as he was crafting tracks for his 2006 ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’ album. The Tennessee native was interested in collaborating with Hov on a possible duet, but the ‘Big Pimpin” rhymer turned down Timberlake, citing a busy schedule as the reason for the dismissal and promising to join him on a forthcoming project. The Timbaland-produced ‘SexyBack’ creator wasn’t going to wait on hip-hop’s leading rap vet though. “Jay-Z has put out 11 albums, and I was talking about doing a collaboration with him, and he said, ‘I can’t do it right now, but I’ll get you on the next album,’” he revealed. “I was like, ‘No, man, I don’t work like that. This sounded good to me for you and me to do together, and if it doesn’t work, then I totally get it, but I won’t be putting an album out next year; these aren’t a dime a dozen to me.’”

Timberlake is focusing his talents on acting currently, putting his music career on the backburner. He stars in the comedy flick ‘Bad Teacher,’ alongside former flame Cameron Diaz. No ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’ follow-up is in the works and the singer has admitted that he has no new songs written.
